Our self-guided walking tours don’t normally provide the level of diversity that Amalfi Coast walk offers. We have some of the best walks scheduled for you with views of the Amalfi coast, Positano, Amalfi, the island of Capri and some of the most beautiful areas to walk in within and along the cliffs of the coast line. On top of these beautiful walks we have included transfers to those must-see places around the Amalfi coast, such as Pompeii and the island of Capri.
Your base is in a small Italian village within the Agerola region, which is perched high above the sea and surrounded by forests. With sweeping views of the Mediterranean. The Agerola region is a perfect base to explore the Amalfi Coast on foot.
Day 1 – Once you are checked into your Hotel, after being transported from Naples airport it’s time to become familiar with your surroundings. Unlike our other self-guided walks this will be your accommodation for the extent of the tour. Explore the little village that sits atop the cliffs of the Amalfi coast, enjoying the culture and hospitality of Bomerano within the Agerola region.
Day 2 – Today you will enjoy one of the world’s finest day walks. From your hotel, it is a short stroll through the quiet village of Bomerano before beginning the famous ‘Walk of the Gods’. The route follows the contours of the land for the majority of the day with amazing views of the Amalfi Coastline far below. Your destination today is the popular Positano, a cliff side village of colourful buildings reached by a network of ancient paths and tracks. With plenty of time to admire one of the most beautiful views of the Amalfi Coast before descending a long series of steps into Positano. You will have time to explore before returning in the late afternoon. We suggest taking a boat back to Amalfi.
Day 3 – The island of Capri is one of the three islands just outside the gulf of Naples. A famous island for centuries for writers, artists and even Roman Emperors. The Ferry from Amalfi to Capri is included, providing a wonderful view of this coast line from the sea. Short self-guided walks await on the island or you can choose to visit the Grotto’s of the island by boat including the famous Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra). Tours and guides for Capri are available at an extra cost.
Day 4 – After breakfast, you travel to a little village which is the start of your walk down to the shores of the Mediterranean and the town of Amalfi. Wonderful views of the Amalfi Coast accompany you as you follow the trail.
Amalfi itself has been popular with the British when the upper classes frequented the village as a pleasant place to spend their winters. The large Duomo (Cathedral) dominates the town with its bright coloured tiles, typical of this area. You will arrive in time to explore the town, take a swim or enjoy a well-earned ice cream before returning to Bomerano by bus.
Day 5 – Today you will be transported to the beautiful town of Ravello for the start of your walk. Ravello is renowned as one of the loveliest villages on the Amalfi coast and is home to the most spectacular and classic views of the Amalfi coast. We suggest that you leave early to provide time to wonder around this beautiful village before starting your walk down to Amalfi. Your walk today takes you down the historical path through the beautiful Ferriere Valley passing disused iron works and paper mills. From Amalfi it is a bus ride back to Bomerano.
Day 6 – Pompeii which, during the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius spanning two days in AD 79, was completely buried in ash and pumice. Lost for 1700 years, Pompeii’s perfectly preserved remains give us an amazing insight into the life of a Roman city and is on your agenda for today. You may also wish to add on a trip to Mount Vesuvius and walk up to the volcano crater at an extra cost.
Day 7 – The trip concludes after breakfast with transfers to Naples.
