Global adventures with a personal touch.
Wayfarer Experiences is a family-owned and operated business, offering selfguided walking tours inspired by our passion for adventure.
Having travelled extensively across Europe with our three children, we realised that our most memorable family moments happened when we had time to ourselves – walking from village to village, taking in the beautiful scenery and immersing ourselves in the vibrant local culture.
We believe in the freedom that travel offers – and at the same time we understand the need for careful planning to allow that freedom to take place. From our on-the-ground experience and our up-to-date knowledge, we have designed our self-guided walking tours with everything organised including detailed walking notes, reliable accommodation, healthy breakfasts, professional luggage transport and back-up support for peace of mind.
The only thing we enjoy more than walking across Europe ourselves is helping others to enjoy the same experience. That’s why every Wayfarer holiday is handled by us personally, so you can have complete confidence that everything is under control.
All you need to do is decide on which walk to do first. Happy travels!
“We’ve walked every walk ourselves, so you can experience the same joy of exploring Europe as our family.”

Why choose us for your next European adventure? Here are just a few reasons why travellers prefer to go the Wayfarer way.
We walk it and sort it
We’ve walked where you’ll walk, creating detailed notes to make sure you stay on the right path and see all the best sights.
Safe and up-to-date
Our walking tours are checked regularly to ensure that all information provided is up to date. We have designed a clear and easy way to find your way through fields, forests and beyond.
Help if you need it
We provide a SIM card for the countries you’ll be visiting, pre-loaded with contact numbers including the Wayfarer Experiences support person in each location.
A relaxing pace
Wayfarer is about walking, not hiking. Our walks are designed to leave plenty of time to relax and enjoy the full European experience of culture, wine, food and people. That’s why our walks only take between two-and-a-half and four hours each day, leaving plenty of time to soak up the culture.
Less crowds, more countryside
For most of the time, you’ll be walking through the picturesque countryside. You won’t see many people, just plenty of spectacular scenery. We want you to experience Europe up close, away from the usual tourist traps.
Perfect for groups
Our groups are sized between two and eight walkers. Each tour is available for your group only, or you can choose to open it up to other walkers.
Hospitality at every stop
We have chosen accommodation that fits with the history and culture of where you’ll be walking, including beautiful centuries-old buildings. As is often the case when you fully immerse yourself in a country, you may encounter locals with limited English. Not to worry – we provide you with some language basics to help, and our local support person is always just a phone call away using a pre-paid SIM card.
Your luggage goes ahead
All you need to do is get from one town to the next at your leisure. We provide information about the history, food, wines and culture of where you’re walking. As a self-guided tour, you benefit from going at your own pace and seeing what interests you. For example, you can leave each town at whatever time you like, although we do recommend leaving at a time that will allow you to enjoy lunch at your next destination.
And if you can’t walk?
If one or more of your group is unable to walk on any day, the van taking your bags can also provide transport to your next destination.
A personal approach
We’re a family business, operating independently of large tourism organisations. We pride ourselves not only on the quality of our walks, but on our one-to-one service. At Wayfarer Experiences, we’re doing everything we can to make sure you have the time of your life.
